POLISH SUNDAY IN ZAKOPANE
The 35th career triumph in high-ranking competitions brought Kamil Stoch a lot of joy and gave him hope for more success in the second part of the season. Standing on the top step of the podium on the landing the Wielka Krokiew he shouted out his emotions very expressively and aroused applause among the 25 000 spectators on the stands of the Zakopane hill. This is Stoch's fifth victory on the Stanislaw Marusarz hill with which he equaled the legendary Austrian Gregor Schlierenzauer.
- I am very happy about this victory, especially in the context of my last two performances at the FIS World Cups in Zakopane. The last days at the Tatra Mountains were special for me and my wife, who had the opening of her photo exhibition at the Witkacy Theatre. Of course, I supported her in this undertaking with all my might and maybe it allowed me to distract some attention from jumping and "clear my head". - said the triple Olympic champion.
Dawid Kubacki, for whom today's third place was the ninth consecutive podium in the FIS World Cup competition, was also satisfied with his work in Sunday's competition. Due to his extraordinary systematic approach, the winner of this year's 4-Hills-Tournament climbs upwards in the overall World Cup ranking and he loses only 107 points to the German leader Karl Geiger - a distance he can make up in next weekend at the famous Okurayama in Sapporo.
