Manuel Fettner started his career at the World Junior Championships in Poland

The international career of Manuel Fettner has started in Poland during the World Junior Championships. On the 3rd of February 2001 almost 16-year-old Fettner won the title of the Junior World vice-champion at the normal hill “Orlinek” in Karpacz, which was his first big success in his career. 21 years and 3 days later he has crowned his long career with the sensational Olympic silver medal at the normal hill in Chinese Zhangjiakou.

Among the best athletes of Sunday's Olympic competition, there were many former medalists of the World Junior Championships. The Olympic Champion Ryoyu Kobayashi gained the bronze medal in 2016 in Rasnov (Romania) and Peter Prevc from Slovenia, who was 4th today, was a Junior World vice-champion in 2010 (Hinterzarten, Germany). The 5th competitor of the contest at the Olympic hill in Zhangjiakou – Evgeniy Klimov from Russia was the bronze medalist of World Junior Championships in 2014 in Predazzo (Italy) and Norwegian Marius Lindvik was the Junior World Champion in 2018 (Kandersteg, Switzerland).
