A media meeting with Polish ski jumping team took place at Wielka Krokiew only few hours before the beginning of the World Cup. There was a possibility to meet not only with the athletes – Kamil Stoch, Dawid Kubacki, Maciej Kot, Stefan Hula and Piotr Żyła, but also with their coach.

- Zakopane is a town where me and my friends were born and raised, what’s more we spend a lot of time here, on these ski jumps. We are glad that we can jump at a new ski jump which has a new profile, so that I hope we will jump little bit further. I am not afraid of the atmosphere because all the supporters will be incredible, as well as the organization of the event. As a team we will do what we have to do and then we will see what’s going to happen. I feel good and my aim is to jump as far as I can – said Kamil Stoch – I am so glad about the competition. We have amazing supporters. We can say that the hill is ours – beautiful, incredible and we feel here like home – added Stefan Hula.

Polish fans wait the most for the performances of their national team which gains the biggest suport at Wielka Krokiew. The atmosphere in Zakopane is always amazing and it is only the wind that can destroy the event.  – When I woke up this morning, I saw a typical signs of halny (Polish foehn wind) but at the moment there is no wind outside. So there is hope that all the weather forecasts were wrong and the event will take place as it is planned. All the Poles keep their fingers crossed for that. We have nothing to worry about because Polish supporters will do all their best at the facility. Only the weather is unpredictable – summarised Maciej Kot who is trying to come back to his perfect shape. – I am so close to come back to my good jumps. Sometimes it is only one good jump that helps to re-find the right path, and sometimes – one hundred. Of course I am doing all my best to do it as soon as possible, but all the work must be done properly. Every jump must be performed with the same amount of concentration – he added.

Competitions in Zakopane take place only few days after the Ski Flying World Championship. This event was a great success for Polish athletes. Kamil Stoch won a  bronze medal in an individual competition. In a team event Polish team stood at the same step of the podium. – When it comes to jumping at a normal hills after the flying at a large ones, it is always a difficult thing. But it is possible to change the technique, we had an opportunity to that on trainings, so that it’s not a problem for us now. Of course those jumps differ one to another, but to be honest we spend more time during the season on jumping at smaller hills, so we don’t have any problems with the change from a large hill – said Dawid Kubacki. – The hill with its new profile is much safer than in the past. What’s more it permits to jump longer and what’s important – safely. When it comes to the jump itself, there is no bigger changes. The technique remains the same – he added.
